Marcus Partners Brings State’s Largest Rooftop Solar Array Online Under “SMART” Program

Portfolio Now Includes More than 950,000 of Solar Roofs and 1 Million Square Feet of LEED Certifications Demonstrating Clean Energy Commitment.

Marcus Partners has just announced the installation of the largest rooftop solar array within the Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (“SMART”) Program.

Located at 192 Mansfield in Norton, the installation includes nearly 11,000 JINKOSOLAR modules and power electric inverters which will generate 4.5 million kilowatt hours of clean renewable energy annually. Acquired in 2018, 192 Mansfield represents approximately 350,000 SF of Marcus’ industrial holdings, which over the last two years has grown to over 2 million SF in the Commonwealth alone.

The installation at 192 Mansfield is a critical step for Marcus in a year of sustainability-oriented milestones. With the completion of 900 Winter Street, a 230,000 SF laboratory facility in Waltham, the team has exceeded 1 million SF of LEED certified new construction and boasts a portfolio producing nearly 10 million kilowatt hours per year of renewable energy. Alongside other sustainability initiatives planned for the coming year, Marcus Partners anticipates completing several additional solar installations on pending projects over the next 12 months.

To complete the installation, Marcus worked with ECA Solar, a firm dedicated to design, installation, and operating large scale solar facilities in New England. “It’s been a pleasure working with the Marcus team to complete this important initiative and we look forward to many more. The clean energy generated from this project alone is equivalent to removing over 750 cars from the road annually or powering over 400 homes with sun-generated electricity” said Todd Fryatt of ECA.

“Our foremost responsibility is to act in the best interest of our investors and our tenants,” said Pete Cameron, Marcus Partners’ Director of Asset Management. “Given the recent growth of our industrial portfolio, we look forward to completing additional large-scale rooftop solar installations, which will move the needle towards providing cleaner energy, lowering emissions, and reducing our carbon footprint. It’s a terrific double-bottom line for us and the communities in which we do business.”
